Release your soul, literally through poetry. Poetry has always been the common place to mix words and rhyme with love, hope, joy, fear and pain. Such greats as Langston Hughes, Robert Frost and Maya Angelou have given the world words to think about, words to cry too, and hope to live on.
The releasing of the soul has always been the natural reaction when the reader stumbles upon a good poem. Perhaps this experience is unquestionably made through the energy which the author put forth to release his or her own soul with the pen.
Poetry is currently a dying genre for the publishing industry, and if you’ve walked into a bookstore lately, you can see the fruit of the decline.
Few know the true reasons to the death of poetry, but many may say that it’s the genre selected during the times of trouble and devastation. After September 11, 2001; it was poetry which rang up the hopes of Americans faced with the tragedies of terror. During the trials of hurricane Katrina, once again there was poetry that lifted up the spirits of the people of Louisiana and Mississippi.
Poetry has always been a soul saving and spirit filled genre, giving hope and life to the millions whom read and a pretense of faith for the millions whom don’t.
Poetry bridges a universal channel for all whom participate in the act of reading or creating its very existence. Websites such as www.poetryismysaviour.com (http://www.poetryismysaviour.com) defines that universal channel through social networking, inspiration and a chance for individuals to release their soul.
If poets and those whom read poetry fail to bring back the very soul of poetry beyond major disasters, then poetry as we know it will continue to be a dying genre lost in the ten inch space of our libraries and bookstores. To release one’s soul must first come through the releasing of maximum creativity, and that’s all it takes to create a good poem.
