View Full Version : Get Free Advertising Using Google Base

I have found a way to get more traffic to my websites by using Google Base. Not sure how old the service is but it is still in beta which tells me it is still sorta of new. So far, after only one month, I have received 125 impressions and 25 clicks.
It works like adsense except you pay nothing for your ads. I`m still getting the hang of it but thought this would be a neat way to get more free advertising.
Sincerely,
David Bowie

Thanks Matt for allowing me to share good information with the members. Google base pretty much acts like Craigs list but is set up in an adsense manner and you do not need a website to get your items listed and searchable.
Google Base is a free Google service that helps you publish virtually any kind of information -- be it your latest riveting screenplay or a listing for your slightly dented 1989 Honda Accord -- on Google Base or other Google properties.
You can also create your own data feeds and control panel to get more exposure of your products or services.
Google Base allows you to list up to One Million Items and the only requirement is that you have a Google account. There is just way to much information to list and I have only listed a few.
So far I have only placed four of my high traffic websites on Google Base and the ads will stay up for thirty days and then I can renew them if I choose to do so. I will renew them since right now the service is free and is giving me more exposure for my websites.

I, too, am using Google base and find it amazing. I get so much traffic from it. Besides Google base, I find this free viral http://www.freeviral.com/?r=283724 extremely effective.

I too have been using Google base for my blog and affiliate programs. I get good impressions and clicks. I always advise others to use it too. You shouldn't rely on only this, though.

David,
Great info...thanks also to Matt for a very clear video on usage. Is this service planning to remain a free one or will it eventually be a paid service after beta?
Thanks,
Thom

Go to google.com/base. If you have more than 10 items to add to Google Base, you'll click 'Data Feed' off to the right. From here you'll want to click on New Data Feed.
Step
2
You'll select a target country and item type (ie: products, ***s, recipes, personals, etc.). Next you'll be asked for a data feed filename. Your best bet is to create a tab delimited file using Excel or similar program.
Step
3
Inside a new Excel document, you'll want to use the first horizontal line of columns for the headers. See link in resources section to find required and recommended headers/data for each item type.
Step
4
Once you've typed in your headers, enter each piece of data for each listing on it's own separate line. Once complete, save this file as 'Text (Tab Delimited)'. You'll find this option in the drop down box at 'Save as Type.'
Step
5
Save your file and enter YOURFILENAME.txt into the field on Google Base. Click 'Register Data Feed.' You will be returned to the uploads screen and here you will see your uploaded file with a status under 'Last upload date & status.' It shouldn't take more than one hour (usually around 10 minutes) for your file to be approved.
Step
6
If your upload failed, you will get a status message that will notify you of the errors included in the file. Go and make the changes and resubmit your Data Feed.

Thanks for the google tip, i've actually lost money doing the adwords trip. I bought all the programs, i don't what it is, or why i always got pushed off the first page, sometimes ranked #3! I think it's about not wanting to spend too much money for fear of 50,000 clicks and becoming homeless. Anyway thanks for the tip. Actually I've moved on to something much better, none of the advertising, ppc, click through rates etc, no special skills, and the first cycle takes about 30 days, the second about 3 weeks, and then it gets down to about 1 a week. Oh, a cycle is $10K plus $5K travel vouchers, and then you get right back in automatically and never pay anything again. Oops, you start this with $250, and it turns into $10k of commission cash, plus the travel. Easy as pie. I saw it here www.thefederalreview.com It's called TVI, worth checking out. very cool:cool:

I can't find the section in the video where you create a product/service. It looks like you are forced to create a data feed. Still trying to figure it out.

I don't know if they changed it or what but I followed the directions to create my own feed with my products. It's not very hard basically you need four columns in a spread sheet where you put in your information. You then upload it to google base which I am waiting for at the moment.
Just go into the help section and it explains how to create a feed. Although Google's help section is usually pretty anemic you can figure it out by going through there.

Automatic double-underline text links within the content of your website that upon a hover of the mouse open a floating informational ad bubble. If clicked, the visitor is directed to the advertiser's landing page and you earn advertising revenue.

Wondering if anybody has had some recent experiences with Google Base Local?
