Forum marketing is one of the best ways to market your product or website. Find as many highly relevant forums to your niche, join each one and become a productive member. You can benefit in a number of ways.

1. You will learn a whole heck of a lot hanging out with other like minded professionals in your business. Do not underestimate this! You might start forum marketing because you want lots of valuable backlings to your website in the forum signature. However once you start posting and responding you will find out how much you will learn! This is one of the best schools out there and it is free!

2. You will receive valuable backlinks and traffic to your website. Understand first that advertising is not permitted on forums. The only place that you are allowed to advertise is in your signature file. You must make relevant comments and really be a part of the discussion. Do not join a forum and just say "great post" or "good idea." This is considered forum spam. Really read the content and become a part of the forum community. That being said, you are allowed a link back to your website in the signature file.

Forums are generally considered authority sites and get indexed very rapidly in the search engines according to the keywords in the posts. These posts are generally permanent or long term relevant (if you follow the advice above) links back to your website from high traffic authority websites in your niche.

Forums are busy places. Members will also see you signature file and click on your link as well if it interests them. Since I only suggest joining forums which are related to your niche this is a high probability.

3. If you really make quality posts over a long term YOU will become an authority on your niche. This gives you more credibility in your market.

4. Forum marketing is fun!! If you are p***ionate about your subject you can really get caught up in the fun of interacting and sharing ideas with your peers. Be careful it is addictive!

Here is a list of internet marketing, webmaster type forums which allow you to have a signature file in your posts. I eliminated all of the forums which do not allow you to have signatures. I believe that if you are willing to take the time to contribute intelligent relevant content to a forum the least you should get is a link back to your site. I know many owners do not want any type of advertising at all in their forum except their own paid ads. I choose not to spend my time on these forums.

Here is a hint for those who promote just affiliate programs. Many forums do not allow affiliate links in the signatures. The answer to this is to simply to your own domain, some cheap hosting and make a simple webpage with your favorite programs on it. You can then make the signature link to your own domain rather than the affiliate link.

If you are an affiliate and you do not have your own domain, website and you are not building your own mailing list with an autoresponder program and I not believe you can be successful.

Click here to get your own domain name and cheap hosting.
Click here to learn about autoresponders and to get one.

For the rest of you here is a list of quality internet marketing forums which will allow you to add you signature file. Some require you to make 5-20 posts first before you signature appears. No problem just keep posting. It is worth it. I have joined and posted to every one of the forums below. See you there!

WebTalkForums.com has enabled revenue sharing via Google AdSense. Relevant ads are displayed on WebTalkForums.com's pages via Google AdSense, which pays on both a CPC and CPM basis (cost-per-click and cost-per-one-thousand impressions). As a way to show their appreciation for WebTalkForums.com's members, they share the forums AdSense revenue with you. I think this is very generous. Thank you so much for this post. I found it very informative. I am part of an affiliate and have found that forums definitely bring me the most sign ups. They are also a great way to communicate with a wide variety of people. I am at present building my own website, but I do find it difficult to work full time and keep up with the forums as well as building my own website. I usually do not get to sleep till one in the morning. But it is good fun and hopefully will end in success. Thanks for a great forum.

Hi Beryl,

It is very easy to find forums in any niche. Just go to your favorite search engine and type in "Your niche forum" and you should find some forums in your area of interest. Then pick a few that you like and become a regular contributor. I find it is just best to focus in a few quality forums in your niche and really get involved. Forum marketing is a long term learning and promotion strategy. Good luck.

Hi Matt

Thanks for the reply.

This forum marketing thing does look like it really needs to be part of a long term strategy. I think if it's also niche related it's quite good for meeting people in the same niche as you are.

I think it can be a bit difficult though if you're promoting a lot of different niches, eh?

Hi Matt,

What a great list of forums.

I wonder whether you would consider adding my forum to your recommended list.

The MyScribeWeb Forum is in its infancy but promising to be a great meeting place and advertising space.

We allow links in the signature file and have set up boards where people can promote their own products and websites.

We have also set up a board where people can promote other peoples products - great for affiliates.

The forum is set up for writers, web builders and internet marketing.

Richard Kirkham is the moderator and works hard at keeping a nice atmosphere here.

I hope you will join the forum and check it out.

Cheers,

Kitty.

I knew about most of them but at least 1/4 I have never used. Thanks for the time you put into it. Going to have to bookmark this page until I get signed up on all of them.

I just joined the Warrior Forum, definitely one of the best I've come across so far; others are more restrictive as to what you can or cannot post, even in your signature files, so be sure to read all the posting guidelines of each form you join to ensure compliance or that you don't get "flagged"

Great information and post Matt, I am already a member to almost all of those forums but there are a couple new ones on the list so thank you.

Just wanted to let anyone signing up for these know that Submit Express is not currently accepting new members, just to save yourself a little bit of your time ;)

Yea it is definitely good for traffic, and also for building link juice. A lot of people will argue that forum links in the sig line do nothing for you, but I have experienced first hand that they really do help you - and they can help you a lot if you do it right!
