Hi all,

I'm Barbara, I'm from Canada and I teach English in Greece. I've just joined and to tell the truth I'm not sure how this forum is going to help me. I haven't read any other threads yet.
I'd like to branch out from teaching and do editing and proofreading over the Internet but I'm not too sure how to go about it. I work in a private school part-time in the evenings and do private tutoring as well. However, I have found that I really enjoy correcting work. So why not go out on my own? I have a lot of encouragement from my daughter, who has benefited from my corrections.
It has been suggested to me that a webpage is outmoded and networking is the best way. I'm not sure how to go about it though. Where to go? Webpage or not?
Well, I just wanted to introduce myself right now and I'm looking forward to learning more.

mvh,
(With friendly greetings)
Barb

Hi Barbara,

Greetings from Bulgaria! Do you already know that it is quite close to Greece?;)

I’m sure you idea is very good although I cannot help you with some particular advise about editing and proofreading.:( What I can tell you is that if you are serious about working and making money online, you SHOULD have a website and nowadays it is not such a big deal to make one by yourself as it might seem.:) In the Internet, having a website is like having an ID card: it is giving you greater authority and credibility. It is also like having an own home in the real world: you might love to travel all around the world but in any case you have where to start from and where to come back. Therefore, if you want to be successful online, I highly recommend you to build your own website. And if you want this website to be successful, there is only one web hosting company on the net that can guarantee it and this is Site Sell (or Site Build It! (http://buildit.sitesell.com/webhosting_ymg.html)). It is also the only one company which is giving you real Proof (http://proof.sitesell.com/webhosting_ymg.html) about the success of the websites they are hosting. The people there are really very serious, trustful, and helpful and this is not so usual on a market, where almost 95% of the offers you see are merely SCAM. Check them for yourself. I can assure you that with them you won’t go wrong.

Warm “Balkan” regards, :)

Yordan

Hi Barb or should I say "Kali Mera" as you are in Greece.
Are you on the mainland or one of the islands?
I love Kefalonia and have been about 5 times.
Good luck on the forums,
Lotterycat.
