I use a program that is semi-automatic that posts my web pages to all those little Directories available from every Country.

I started it last November and have improved my web site to a PR2.

That works for me. I haven't started on my other sites as all of this takes time - actually a lot of time.

I don't do social networks - they don't appeal to me, not saying I am not in some of them as I am. But I don't use them often.

I do many other venues as well, but the abovementioned is that one that seems to working the best.

Remember in order to be more successful at affiliate marketing it is important to build a list. once you have a list you will have people that you can advertise any product to at any time. Good strategy..

Free Directory Submissions. Once exhausted move on to a round of article submissions. Once that round complete do a round of forum posting. Once that is done, do a round of Social bookmarking. Once that round is done do blog commenting on related blog posts. Then go back to article submissions, since free directories still exhausted (updating the list every month or so).Then you can do some sponsored posts or press releases once you get the ball rolling.

The tactics and strategies used when Internet marketing can be and probably will be a combination of different tactics depending mostly of course on how much money and time you want to invest into your venture.
I've used PPC (Pay Per Click) with tremendous results, but before you go spending huge amounts of money into PPC I highly advise that your ad copy is written remarkably well so your percentage of conversion rate is high.
Unless you're a professional at writing good copy, I don't suggest this method.
As everyone has heard before, "The money is in the LIST". That one statement is the truest statement in the business. We are all looking for a list of "Targeted Leads" to put our offers in front of. If anyone tells you they can "sell" you a list of Targeted Leads, they are probably lying. Nobody has such a list that you can be rest assured that one person on that list won't cry "SPAM" which in most cases will get you booted off of whatever program you are trying to promote.
I am a witness first hand of that one as I got kicked out of Aweber's Affiliate program about 12 or 13 years ago for using a Targeted Leads list I purchased. I am an affilate for Aweber's Autoresponder again but it took many years for me and many thousand's dollars of lost revenue because of that mistake.
These forums work great as long as they're active such as The Free Ad Forum.
Email marketing has been the cha ching solution for me although it has taken some time as I started with a very small list.
A combination of handing out business cards on the outside for people to go home and check my offers out along with some "resending" emails that have been spammed into my inbox have also been a good way for me to acquire some sign ups.
I need to explain that last one a bit. After a divorce, a house that burnt down, and the loss of 2 computers and a laptop, I started all over again about 6 months ago with a list of zero and didn't know what to do or how to get started again. I was economically ruined by the now ex-wife so I couldn't even afford a new pc for quite some time, (about 3 years).
I had refound a great product and some great affiliate sites to promote, some having up to 12 different streams of revenue to gleam from but I didn't know anybody, so I decided to take my inbox, (which was full of spammers emails) and resent them my offers.
Bingo! All of a sudden my list started to grow and is now 200 strong.
Remember the percentages. One percent of one percent is the conversion breakdown they say which means 1 percent will click and 1 percent of them will buy, although I'm here to tell you that it's higher than that if you do ALL things right.
Whatever you do, make sure you have "support". That's the most important element to any successful online venture. You need someone that is willing to go at "your speed" and explain "step by step" how they did it so you can "duplicate their efforts.
In summary, PPC, Email, Forums, Business cards, website submission(if you have the time), and video marketing which is very productive if done right.

I did this with one piece of software that I had made and I got many valuable backlinks from the very busy software directories. I believe that one should first exhaust all avenues to bring "organic" traffic to their websites as paying for traffic (Adwords, etc) can prove to be quite expensive and has gotten out of hand price-wise - in my opinion. The "little guy" is being pushed aside.

Here is what has and still working for me and producing remarkable results:

1. Ween yourself off from creating websites the traditional way. That is, using Dreamweaver, Frontpage, etc.

2. Use the free WordPress (http://wordpress.org/) self-hosted script and fashion it to look like a blog or like a regular website.

3. Power your WordPress blog/site with the Thesis Theme (http://www.digitaldrake.com/Thesis). If you are a blogger or thinking about setting up a blog, this is the only theme you should be looking at. To use any other theme will do yourself a dis-service. Search engines don't care about websites that look pretty, but web sites that are functional and rich with content. The combination of WordPress powered by the Thesis Theme (http://www.digitaldrake.com/Thesis) is very powerful as Thesis has powerful SEO functionality built right in.

4. Install the Scribe SEO (http://www.digitaldrake.com/SEO-Scribe) pligin within your WordPress Blog. It will analyze your posts and pages and tell you exactly what you need to do to SEO each post and page.

5. When writing articles - which serve as your websites content - use Scribe SEO (http://www.digitaldrake.com/SEO-Scribe) to keyword optimize each post/article you write. Make sure your videos give the viewer something of value and of use to them.

Hi,

Ad swaps are an excellent way to get traffic and grow your list at the same time. You can do this no matter how small (or large....) your list might be.

Sure - a lot of it is based on trust (you have to hope your ad swap partner sends out your ad copy on the arranged date/time) however in my experience this is rarely an issue and you can derive longer term benefits such as JV oppotunities with your fellow ad swapper.

There are a number of ad swapping communities out there so jump in and get your feet wet.

Might it be possible for a separate ad-swapping section to be set up on this forum perhaps?

Right now I'm just posting ads in the various Video Game sections promoting my new website, Black Ops for Free (http://www.blackops4free.com). As long as the ad sticks I am getting anywhere from 30 to 50 visitors from just 4 ads posts. However, some people just like to flag posts, so not all stick. :rolleyes:

As for the SE's, in just a few short weeks that I've been promoting the site I've already got a few number one search terms and about a dozen top 5/top 10 search phrase spots in Google and Yahoo, nothing much from Bing yet.

Why close it down when it was doing well??? This makes no sense to me. You could have kept it up and just added an article every now and then to keep it updated with fresh content.

I wouldn't say that this is the only thing that is important, but it is very important if you want the SE's to find and rank your site for your target keywords, which then combined with building backlinks to those content pages should help you rank nicely for organic SE traffic. :D (http://www.cashfreemoney.com)

I do all of these, but don't spend as much time with article submissions of directory submissions. I have not learned to like writing articles to well yet!
