Everyone looks for different things when buying anything, whether be hosting, a car or whatever other item you care name. When it comes to hosting though it appears to me as though main things people looking for hosting will paying particular attention to either price, or the hosts reputation.

Still what are you looking for. Are you just looking for a certain price, or for a host with a good reputation. Are you particuarly interested in:

Basic Features
Control Panel offered
Space/bw limits
Addon/subdomains
Extra features such as a sitebuilder or a scripts library
what people say about the host on the forum's

I haven't had to go searching for a host for some time, but generally when I do need a new host I look for the following

Basic Features
FTP
PHP
MySQL
Reasonable well known CP

I am buying a reseller
If it allows me to edit DNS, this is quite important for the way I do thing
what are the limits, domains, sub domains, space number of accounts etc

Also if I find a lot of bad reviews about I won't touch with a barge pole, when looking for things in general I will go hunting reviews of that product.

My top three picks when shopping for Web hosting would be bandwidth, disk space, and customer service. If those three end up being OK, then everything else is just a nice extra.

I prefer a host that has such stable service that I don't have to contact them for long periods of time, but when I do, receive fast, high quality, informative answers.

However, this can't be known prior to buying, so I look for customer reviews for a rough idea.

The price is important too, but reputation is essential. I don't care for sitebuilders.

When I was on the other side of the fence, I looked for a company that was professional (Means alot), stable and one that had been in business for a while.

These things are i considered while choosing a webhosting provider
1) good service,
2) quality,
3)price,
4) customer review
5) company existence.
I have hosted my websites in 9cubehosting.com (http://www.9cubehosting.com/) .They fully satisfied those things. so i have chosen that.

Customer support is really the biggest thing I look for. I find many webhosts to be the same in terms of plans and pricing and therefore support is the only thing I can really look for into detail to decide which is the best option for me.

So far, all of my sites have been on WordPress. So.. I only look for the host to support MySQL, be affordable and have no limits on monthly bandwith.
