Color blindness is a vision problem in which you will have difficulty in distinguishing certain colors- mostly red and green. Difficulty in recognizing blue or yellow is also another form olor blindness. This difficulty is the primary sign of the color blindness .

The certain cells in the retina respond to color and their failure leads to the color blindness. It is not true that the color blinded person can see only natural colors or shades of grey.

The color blindness is hereditary; and is caused by a common X-linked recessive gene. If the mother is color blind or though has normal vision but carries the color deficient gene, you will be color blinded. Color blind fathers can pass on this vision problem only to daughters, but they too may have normal vision if the mothers do not carry the color deficient genes.

Extreme cases of diseases or aging could damage retinal cells and lead to color blindness.

Color blindness is not curable; but some lenses which are only filters in contact or eye glass forms are used.
