Default Hi Everyone...Great Forum! Any Goat Lovers Out There?

Wow, this seems like a great forum. It's not easy to find a forum where you can talk about your business. I like to sing, sew, do beading (especially bracelets with real crystals), camp, listen to 60's, 70's, 80's music, Mozart and other classical music plus enjoy nature. I'm starting a Weight Watcher group at my church. I have two goats and I know how to milk the nanny...lol! But I'm green behind the ears and we were trying to get her pregnant and I dried her up too soon. Our son is so disappointed as he loves her milk. It tastes better than cow's milk and we drink it raw. If you keep the male(s) out of the milking goat's area and give the right food, then the milk is wonderful...not like that stuff that you get at your county fair that has that after taste...ick!

    See You in the Forum!

    Hey Bernie.

I just joined today and noticed your post. Do you make goat's cheese? My wife is Portuguese and I find it better tasting than regular cow's cheese, especially if you add a touch of salt on top the the finished goat cheese.

Default Hi Tim...Love Goat Cheese, but I Haven't Made it Yet...LOL!

    Hey Tim,

I got your email from the forum. I thought I'd come here and post. I love goat's cheese. But I dried our goat up too early in preparation for her delivery of the baby goats. As it turned out, our neighbors had sold their main male goat. Then we had to wait for their younger male goats to be old enough. W'ere looking at five months away before the babies are born. Both mother and daughter are expecting...we think...we hope...LOL! We'll know for sure in about a months to six weeks. I'm great at milking but I haven't done any goat cheese or even making yogurt. But I plan on learning. I also hope to be of service to my community since I live in a lovely farm animal/horse property area and sometimes our neighbors don't have enough milk for their baby animals. I hope to use some of the milk to help sick or needy animals. I felt so bad that I had dried up our goat too early when my neighbor mentioned that one of her mommy goats died and left two sweet little pigmy baby goats orphaned. My neighbor was having to go buy pasturized goat's milk which isn't as good for them as the raw.
Ok, enough of the goat talk. I put an ad about my business down in the section to advertise one's business. Check it out.

Default My dad would love you?

    Hey suzieq29 and Bernie29,

My dad has about 5 goats I think. (last time I looked). The number of goats he has changes regularly. He has 10 acres out in the sticks, lol! it's not really that far but it seems so to us. I dont think he has ever gotten any milk from them, I think he likes to eat them more, or sells them.

And then there's my girlfriend who loves goats, one practically lives in her house! God I can't believe I'm talking about goats, anyway welcome Bernie and best wishes.
