Has Armodafinil 50mg tablets been prescribed for residual daytime sleepiness?

  Community Activities

Use of 50 mg of armodafinil in adult patients suffering from sleep disorders including narcolepsy, Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) with daytime somnolence despite proper management and Shift Work Sleep Disorder (SWSD) is common in my sleep clinic practice. However, prior to commencing treatment with this medication, I usually ensure the patient's proper evaluation which covers the sleep history, medical history, current medications, cardiovascular state, occupational routine and past history of sleep disorder management.

My aim is to determine if the sleepiness experienced during the day time is related to any known sleep disorder as opposed to neurologic, psychiatric, endocrine or lifestyle problems. If indicated, the use of 50 mg of armodafinil is combined with the proper management of sleep disorder, good sleep hygiene practices and routine follow-up.

I am quite curious about how other clinicians prescribe Armodafinil 50 mg and their experience with this.
