And, some 176 years before Jefferson penned the Declaration of Independence, William Shakespeare asked the same question, as to whether one ought to maintain the bonds with which they are familiar, or ... actively seek to dispel them?
‘Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing, end them?’
The choice remains a potent one to this day, as events at home and around the globe bear witness to.
