Core Game Mechanics: Understanding the Feedback Loop
Nearly every five-letter word challenge utilizes a tripartite color feedback system derived from classic board games like Mastermind and Jotto: 5 Letter Words
Green (Exact Match): The selected letter is in the target word and placed in the precise slot.
Yellow (Transposed Match): The letter belongs in the target word but currently occupies the incorrect position.
Gray / Dark (Null Match): The letter does not appear anywhere in the target word (or its occurrences have already been accounted for).
The core tension of the game revolves around information retrieval vs. solution targeting. Weak players guess to win on row two or three; elite players guess systematically to eliminate the greatest number of letter possibilities before making an informed strike.
