"William Taft: A Brief Introduction" by Andy Reven on Amazon. This is a readable and concise new book about the interesting life of William Howard Taft who was the 27th President of the United States. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Yale University in 1878. Taft was known for his background in law. During his tenure, Taft focused on consolidating the progressive policies began by Roosevelt, including trust-busting efforts against monopolies and the implementation of tariff reforms. However, his presidency was marred by divisions within the Republican Party, especially between the progressive and conservative factions, which ultimately led to his loss in the 1912 presidential election. After his presidency, Taft achieved the notable distinction of becoming Chief Justice of the United States in 1921, a position he held until 1930. He was the only person to have served both as President and Chief Justice. Taft's legacy includes major contributions to judicial reform and the expansion of the federal judiciary. He died in 1930 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
