Endodontic surgery is a dental procedure performed to treat problems inside the tooth or surrounding bone that cannot be resolved with non-surgical root canal therapy. It involves accessing the root tip and surrounding tissue to remove infection, seal the root, and promote healing.
Purpose of Endodontic Surgery
To remove persistent infection at the root tip.

To locate and treat hidden canals that were not found in a previous root canal.
To save a tooth that might otherwise need extraction.
Common Types of Endodontic Surgery
Apicoectomy (Root-end surgery)
The most common type.
The dentist removes the tip of the tooth root and seals the end to prevent further infection.
Root resection
In multi-rooted teeth (like molars), one root may be removed while preserving the rest of the tooth.
