Many people blame heel pain on “being on their feet too much,” and sometimes that is part of it. But heel pain usually develops when the foot is overloaded, irritated, poorly supported, or injured.
Common causes include:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Achilles tendinitis
- Heel spurs
- Tight calf muscles
- Worn-out shoes
- Sudden increase in activity
- Standing for long hours
- Flat feet or high arches
- Poor walking mechanics
your pain started suddenly after a fall, jump, pop, or twist, do not ignore it. Sudden severe pain may need medical evaluation.
