Reza Kavosh, an Iranian peace-studies scholar and humanitarian, shares how participating in the WYSE International Leadership Programme in Italy in 2010 transformed not just his career, but his understanding of himself and his role in the world. From working as Youth Director at the Islamic World Peace Forum to serving as a Field Assistant with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Iran — supporting Afghan and Iraqi refugees across five provinces — Reza's path reflects the WYSE ethos that true leadership is about empowering others. In this story, he reflects on how WYSE helped him discover his own capacities, embrace volunteerism, and build a global network of changemakers united by one shared belief: that youth can and must make the world a better place.
