If you are looking for TCBS Agar (TM 436), or Thiosulfate-Citrate-Bile Salts-Sucrose Agar manufactured by TM Media, is a selective and differential medium primarily utilized for the isolation and identification of Vibrio species, particularly V. cholerae and V. parahaemolyticus, from clinical and environmental samples. Developed by Kobayashi et al., TCBS Agar inhibits the growth of most Gram-positive bacteria while encouraging the growth of Vibrio species. It contains sodium thiosulfate and ferric citrate for hydrogen sulfide production, bile salts and sodium citrate for selectivity, and sucrose as a fermentable carbohydrate. V. cholerae typically produces yellow colonies due to sucrose fermentation, while V. parahaemolyticus forms blue-green colonies.
