Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), set up in 1995 from a joint effort between the Sikkim Government and Manipal Education & Medical Group, is a private university known by UGC in Gangtok, Sikkim. It got its name "Sikkim Manipal University" in 2010 and has a Chancellor picked by Sikkim's Governor. This place is known for its top grade from NAAC and strong tech ties. SMU works with UGC, AIU, and AICTE, and its degrees are checked by WES for worldwide worth. To meet the growing need for easy to get, top class learning, SMU opened its Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) in 2023. On their Online Manipal site, they now offer online UG and PG degrees.
